PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for carrying out automatic white balance adjustment that can relax deterioration in the S/N of a color signal for executing white balance.

SOLUTION: A digital still camera 1 is provided with a color temperature adjustment light source 100 capable of adjusting a luminescent color and for emitting light to an object Z. A light source color detection section 232 detects the color temperature of an object field including the object on the basis of color signals Sr3, Sg3, Sb3 obtained by applying primary color separation to an imaged signal. A white balance controller 234 adjusts the color temperature of a light source light L2 emitted from the color temperature adjustment light source 100 for emitting the light to the object Z in a way that "entire imaged signal approaches a white color" on the basis of the color temperature of the object field detected by the light source color detection section 232 thereby taking white balance. When the white balance cannot enough be taken by the color temperature adjustment of the light source color, a white balance amplifier section 210 applies gain adjustment to the color signal.
