<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus which can be made small in size, whose illumination efficiency can be enhanced, and whose cost can be reduced, and wherein the generation of ghosts can be prevented. <P>SOLUTION: The image display apparatus is provided with a light source; a light-condensing mirror for condensing light emitted from the light source and forming a virtual secondary light source; a color filter for forming light in three primary colors from white light emitted from the light condensing mirror with time, a light tunnel on which the light transmitted through the color filter is made incident; a relay lens through which the light outgoing from the light tunnel is transmitted; a 1st mirror on which the light transmitted through the relay lens is made incident; a 2nd mirror on which the light reflected by the 1st mirror is made incident; and a plurality of minute mirrors arranged on a substrate in a matrix state, and regarding the plurality of minute mirrors. The light is made into ON-state or OFF-state, by independently changing the inclination of each mirror and varying the incident angle of the reflected light, and the mirror is provided with a reflection display element on which the light reflected by the 2nd mirror is made incident, and a projection lens on which the reflected light in the ON-state formed by the plurality of fine mirrors and for enlarging and projecting the incident light; and the relay lens is arranged opposite to the 1st mirror and the 2nd mirror across the optical axis of the projection lens. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
