PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that can be used for actual image processing in a product manufacturing step, can easily set an extracted color, and hardly receives the effect of a luminance change. SOLUTION: Pixel data are read from image data, the luminance value and the saturation value of each pixel are calculated from the RGB value of each pixel, and the average values of them are calculated (S1). Then the saturation of whole the image data is increased (S2) to acquire an RGB threshold value and the obtained RGB threshold value is stored (S3). Next, the luminance of the whole image is decreased (S4), the RGB threshold value is acquired from the corrected image data, and the RGB threshold value is stored (S5). Then an arithmetic processing section 5 selects an optimum threshold value from the RGB threshold values stored every time the saturation and the luminance are changed, and the selected optimum threshold value is stored in a storage section (S7).
