PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily reduce a level of radiation noise by causing an electromagnetic wave generated by an optical read means 106 to flow to an image reader enclosure without exerting an influence upon a read image. SOLUTION: An image reader 200 is provided with; the optical read means 106 which has an radiation means 102 for radiating light to an image surface of a document and an optical conversion means 105 for converting reflected light of the light to an electric signal and optically reads an image on the document; a driving means which moves the optical read means 106 to a read position of the document; and a carrying means 201 which carries the document to the read position. The optical read means 106 stands still in the read position and reads the image on the document carried by the carrying means 201, and the optical read means 106 and an image reader enclosure 111 have conductive parts, and a conductive connection member 108 is provided which makes the conductive part of the optical read means 106 and that of the image reader enclosure conductive to each other in the read position.
