PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high strength steel sheets having excellent shape-fixability, and to provide methods for producing them. SOLUTION: In the high strength steel sheet having excellent shape-fixability, ferrite or bainite is comprised as the maximum phase in an area ratio, the average value of the X-ray random intensity ratio in the ä001}<110> to ä223}<110> orientation groups of the sheet faces in the 1/2 sheet thickness is≥6.0, also, the X-ray random intensity ratios of either or both of the ä112}<110> orientation and the ä001}<110> orientation in these orientation groups is≥8.0, additionally, at least one of the (r) value in the rolling direction and the (r) value in a direction perpendicular to the rolling direction is≤0.8, and also, the number of compound grains with a size of≤15 nm is≥60% the number of all compound grains.
