<p>A fluorescent material which is less toxic, especially a fluorescent material formed through the synthesis of nanoparticles of a chalcopyrite structure and combination with a metal chalogenite. The fluorescent material comprises either a first compound having a chalcopyrite structure and made up of I, III, and VI Group elements or composite particles or a composite compound each containing the first compound, the first compound or the composite particles or composite compound having a particle diameter of 0.5-20.0 nm. They are produced by dissolving one or more members selected among copper(I), copper(II), silver(I), indium(III), gallium(III), and aluminum(III) in a solution containing a complexing agent added thereto, mixing the ingredients together to prepare a first solution (solution (A)), mixing the first solution with a second solution (solution (C)) obtained by dissolving a chalcogenite compound, and heating the resultant mixture under given synthesis conditions.</p> |
