<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To check a display lamp from any direction away from an image forming apparatus, which has a vertical type operation part on the upper section of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a support pole 6 erected on the upper surface of the main body of the image forming apparatus; an arm 7 extending across the support and disposed on the support so as to be freely rotated around it; and the operation section 8 attached to the leading end of the arm. In the image forming apparatus, an extension pole 9 is erected on the support pole so as to extend in a direction extending from the support pole. A display device 10 for displaying the state of the image forming apparatus is disposed on the extension pole such that the display device 10 is located higher than the operation part 8.
