PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scroll compressor efficiently operating in a wide range from small displacement to large displacement by variable speed. SOLUTION: A fixed scroll having a scroll shape base blade rising on an end plate and a revolving scroll having roughly the same base blade rising on the end plate are engaged to form a plurality of compression chambers therebetween. The revolving scroll is moved on a round orbit in relation to the fixed scroll with variable speed without rotation. The base blades have scroll length satisfying regular compression ratio at low speed operation. A step part where height of the blade is reduced is provided on at least one of the extended blade.
