PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing control device for an internal combustion engine capable of supporting a housing to vanes while combining truncation of axial length and cost reduction. SOLUTION: In this valve timing control device for the internal combustion engine, the housing is composed of a cylindrical housing body integrally formed with a sprocket at the outer periphery and having an opening at least on the camshaft side, and a rear plate sealing the opening of the housing body and having an insertion hole for inserting the camshaft or a vane rotor. A bearing part supports the camshaft or vane rotor at the inner periphery of a projecting part integrally formed in the insertion hole of the rear plate so as to project to the vane rotor side.
