An article of footwear (10) includes a sole assembly (21) and an upper (22) secured to the sole assembly. A sole plate (11) is positioned between the upper and the sole assembly. The sole plate includes a midfoot member (32) comprising a medial member (40) having a base plate (44) and at least one medial pillar (46) extending upwardly from a medial edge of the base plate; with the base plate having a substantially planar finger (48) extending fowardly and configured to extend under a foot of a user; and a lateral member (42) having at least one lateral pillar (56) extending upwardly from a lateral edge thereof. A forefoot member (30) has at least one finger (34) extending upwardly along an exterior surface of the upper.
