The urn has housing (2) made from a solid material e.g. natural or artificial stone, and includes a cylindrical hollow space (13). The space is formed by drilling a bore hole horizontally through the housing by a milling tool. An enclosure retaining cremation ashes is inserted into the space. Openings (14) at the ends of the hole are closed at front and rear surfaces of the housing such that the enclosure is held within the space.
