Simulation of effects with an impact on communication quality

Distributed communications effects modules DCEM (110, 128) provide communications effects to simulated messages in a distributed simulation in order to enhance the ability of the distributed simulation to model real-world behavior. The DCEMs are associated with simulated objects (104, 148). A first DCEM (110) associated with a simulated source object (104) receives a simulated message from the simulated source object (104), applies a simulated communications effect to the simulated message, and transmits the thus processed simulated message to a second DCEM (128) associated with a simulated destination object (148). The second DCEM may apply further simulated communications effects to the message.
