The power tool (1) has a spindle neck (5) co-axial with a drive shaft (4) on which the collar (7) of a protective hood (6) can be fitted. The spindle neck has a guide groove (10) at its circumference, which is accessible through at least one axial through aperture (11). The collar has a guide member (12) which can pass through the aperture, and into the guide groove when the protective hood is turned.
