<p>A sheet of packaging material such as paper, card or fiberous fleece is placed with a thermoformable polymer sheet between two parts of an embossing tool. One tool part forms a die(5) with a depression(6) and the other part(7) includes a complementary punch(8). A ring(9) made of a rubber material is placed between the tool parts and encircles the punch(8). The tool is closed, held for a specific period and then opened to allow removal of the sheet material with molded recess(4). A disc-shaped product is placed in the recess and a cover sealed over the recess. Both tool parts(5,7) are heated to 30-150[deg]C. A gap of 0.1-5mm, preferably 0.1-3mm, may be left between the ring(9) and punch(8). The die(5) and/or punch(7) may be rotated around their central axis(A) during tool closure, preferably through 0.1-10[deg], more preferably 0.1-3[deg]. The ring may comprise spaced segments. The punch can have a circular, rectangular, square or polygon shape relative to a plane orthogonal to the tool central axis. An independent claim is included for the embossing tool(3) which comprises two embossing parts, one with a depression(6), the other with a complementary punch, a rubber ring between both tool parts and no gap between the ring and punch.</p> |
