PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute maintenance and control simply, without exerting influence on the traffic of user data, regarding a maintenance control system and a maintenance control method which perform maintenance and control of a data transmission system, including a media converter. SOLUTION: Control terminal equipment 6 is connected with a media converter 1 on a network side, which is connected with a media converter 2 on a subscriber side via an optical transmission line 3; a user data frame is transmitted via the optical transmission line 3 between the media converters 1 and 2; a maintenance control frame, which includes maintenance control information which the control terminal equipment 6 transmits and receives, is formed; the maintenance control frame is inserted into a guard time between user data frames and is transmitted via the optical transmission line 3; and the maintenance and control of a data transmission system are conducted by the control terminal equipment 6. |
