According to an embodiment of the present invention, a conformal channel monopole array antenna (110; 200; 300; 400; 500) includes a base plate (102; 202; 501) having a continuous electrically conducting channel (102; 204; 502) formed therein, and a substrate (108; 208; 506) coupled to the base plate. The substrate (102; 208; 506) has a plurality of radiating elements (110; 210; 401; 504) formed on a first surface thereof. Each radiating element (110; 210; 401; 504) includes a radiating portion (120; 220; 406; 510), a feed line (122; 222; 404; 508), and a resistive end load (124; 224; 408; 510). The feed lines (122; 222; 404; 508) are configured to couple to respective ones of a plurality of transmission elements.
