The invention relates to a method for the spectral reconstruction of a data-encoded audio signal. According to the invention, one part of the frequency spectrum of the audio signal is decoded with a spectral band- limited encoder, known as a core encoder, and the complementary part of the frequency spectrum of the audio signal is decoded with an extension encoder. The inventive method comprises: a step consisting in obtaining information which is representative of at least one cut-off frequency of the signal decoded by the core decoder; and a step consisting in selecting data, in accordance with the information obtained in the preceding step, from the data to be decoded or the data decoded with the extension decoder. The invention also relates to the method and the encoding device associated with the reconstruction method.
