An annealing device for annealing a magneto-optic recording medium, comprising a diffraction optical unit (3) that spectrally separates a light beam emitted from a laser beam source (1) into a first light beam as a zero-degree diffraction luminous flux and a second light beam and a third light beam as first-degree diffraction luminous fluxes, an object lens (5) that condenses the first light beam to apply it to the magnetic layer of a guide groove or a land portion forming the opposite sides of the guide groove, and condenses the second light beam and the third light beam to apply them to portions in the vicinity of the interface between the guide groove and the land portion, and a two-axis actuator (6) that controls the object lens (5) so that the first light beam tracks the guide groove or the land portion based on the linear characteristics of a first tracking error signal generated based on the intensity distribution of the quantity of a return light of the first light beam.
