PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC loss measuring instrument enhanced in measuring the precision, increased in measurable time and having no restriction, in relation to the shape, dimension and material quality of a sample, and an AC loss measuring method. SOLUTION: In the AC loss measuring instrument constituted so as to store a cooling medium on the inside, outside or both inside and outside of a container made of a nonmetal for housing a sample therein and gasifying the cooling medium in the container by the heat generated in the sample to generate gas to measure the amount of the generated gas, a heat insulating means is provided to the container and a heater is provided in the container.
