PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a folding portable device in which a pair of cabinets are coupled to each other by a hinge mechanism, wherein a hinge unit is prevented from falling off from the hinge mechanism when a large impactive force is applied. SOLUTION: In the folding device, a hinge mechanism is equipped with a first cylindrical piece 33 projected to one cabinet, second and third cylindrical pieces projected to the other cabinet. A hinge unit is fitted in toward the first cylindrical piece 33 from the second cylindrical piece. The hinge unit is equipped with a pair of elastic locking pieces 62, 62. A head of the elastic locking piece is engaged with an end surface 33a of the first cylindrical piece 33. A protrusion 38 is formed on the end surface 33a of the first cylindrical piece 33. The protrusion 38 prevents an arc-shaped piece 36 forming the third cylindrical piece from pressing the heads of the elastic locking pieces 62, 62. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
