PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of processing data stream which has data field containing data such as an uncompressed closed caption and contains compressed video component within a receiver.

SOLUTION: The data such as a closed caption are extracted from a data field, compressed video component is released from the compression to acquire an uncompressed video signal, and processing is performed to display the uncompressed video signal and the data such as the extracted closed caption.
