PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle navigation system capable of guiding a vehicle equipped with the system up to a destination intelligibly, without losing map information necessary for guiding the vehicle even if a map is simplified. SOLUTION: A summarized map obtained by summarizing a map on the basis of map data is formed (steps S2-S7), and is displayed on a display monitor (step S8). It is judged whether or not an intersection being displayed in an original map before summarization is displayed also in the summarized map, based on a detection result for the position of the vehicle (step S12).
