PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that work of seeing time indication when performing repeat playback to jump a playback position to a track back position from the playing back position, and a work to make adjustment by pushing fast return or fast forward buttons a plurality of times in order to jump to a target playback position occur and the convenience is poor. SOLUTION: A digital audio player is characterized by having a system controller which is equipped with; a back amount setting means which decides trace back time by the operation count of a REV button; a back feasibility detection means which checks whether a position set by the back amount setting means exists in a shock proof memory 5 and which can be backed; and a playback start means to start playback from a track back position when it is determined that the data exists in shock proof memory 5 by the back feasibility detection means.
