PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an array storage system and method including a multiple disk array, for convertibly componentizing data storage devices in the multiple disc array. SOLUTION: A multiple disc array 201 comprises a partition which defines attachment points 236, 238, 244, and 246 for fixing a plurality of data storage devices 104 respectively to partitions 218 arranged in first and second arrays 212 and 214, and data storage devices 104 in the first array operably spin oppositely with respect to data storage devices 104 in the second array.
