PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide calcium aluminate fiber of low shot content, to provide a method for producing the same, and to provide applications(e.g. formed products including structural materials) thereof. SOLUTION: The calcium aluminate fiber is characterized by being lower than 30 mass% in shot content. The method for producing the calcium aluminate fiber comprises making a spinning dope containing a calcium compound, an aluminum compound and a spinning auxiliary into unsolidified yarn and then baking the unsolidified yarn. A formed product characterized by being constituted of the calcium aluminate fiber is provided. A structural member characterized by comprising the formed product is also provided.
