First engine (2) drivers at least two road wheels (4) or (6). Second engine (10), which may be at the other end of the vehicle, drives marine propulsion unit (16), which is retractable into an enclosed part of vehicle (1), from an operative position to a stowed position. Engine (10) and unit (16) may pivot about harizontal axis (18) to enable retraction. They may also pivot about a substantially vertical axis (22, fig. 6) to allow marine steering; which may be by tiller (40, fig. 6), or yoke (arms 46 and 47, fig. 5). Unit (16) may be locked in its deployed position to allow reversing. A cable tensioner (20, figs. 7 and 8) may take up slack in steering cable (82). The road wheels may be retractable, particularly with angled retraction; the vehicle may plane. To this end, this end, the hull (103, fig. 9) may be vee-shaped in cross-section. |
