The high or medium voltage electric breaker device (1), with compressed insulating gas, comprises breaker contacts (2) which can adopt an open and a closed position, arranged in a composite insulator formed by a rigid tube (3) surrounded by an elastomeric envelope (4) the exterior surface of which defines a succession of annular ribs. The rigid tube and the elastomeric envelope are embodied to define an observation window (7), which is at least translucid through which the open or closed position for the breaker contacts is visible.
