There is provided a semiconductor integrated circuit capable of rapidly executing data holding/return operation accompanying the low power consumption mode without executing a software instruction. The semiconductor integrated circuit includes: a first register; a second register for storing, in parallel, data identical to the data being stored in the first register; and a write-in circuit for writing the data stored in the second register into the first register when power supply for the first register is cut off and the operation state for holding the power supply of the second register is terminated.
