<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling a flash memory. <P>SOLUTION: In the flash memory control method, it is discriminated whether merge state information shows the merge state of the flash memory or not in response to input of a command. When the flash memory is not in the merge state, it is discriminated whether the merge operation is requested to the flash memory or not.
