<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the surface potential of a photoreceptor drum with appropriate timing in accordance with the temperature of the inside of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: In a printing quantity associating means 50, a first printing quantity 61 is associated with the value of an assumed temperature value 60 according to the value of the assumed temperature 60. A temperature detecting means 51 detects the temperature 64 of the space in the main body 100 of the image forming apparatus. In a timing setting means 52, the value of the assumed temperature 60 corresponding to the temperature 64 of the space in the main body 100 is referred to, and the timing of correcting the surface potential of the photoreceptor drum 10 is set on the basis of the first printing quantity associated with the assumed temperature 60 referred to. The timing discriminating means 53 monitors a second printing quantity 66 in a printing period, and discriminates whether the second printing quantity 66 reaches the first printing quantity 61.
