<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which does not require time more than necessary to detect a toner adhesive amount by forming a test pattern on the side of an image part on a transfer belt when the size of transfer paper is shorter than a printing feasible range in a main scanning direction, that means, whose printing time is prevented from getting longer in order to detect the toner adhesive amount. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a toner adhesive amount control means 6 controlling an image forming condition by detecting the toner adhesive amount of a transferred toner image for detecting the adhesive amount from respective photoreceptors. Assuming that the length of transfer paper to be printed in an axial direction is X, the length of the toner image for detecting the toner adhesive amount in the axial direction is Y, and the length of a printing feasible area in the axial direction is Z, the toner image for detecting the toner adhesive amount is formed out of a printing range when printing is performed in the size of the transfer paper, which is X<Z-Y. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
