PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic data authentication system capable of determining the forgery of an authentication mark. SOLUTION: In this electronic data authentication system, an electronic data providing server, an authentication mark generation server and a browser terminal having an authentication part operated by an authentication program are mutually connected through an information communication network. The authentication mark includes a mark image having first and second areas. The authentication mark generation server buries authentication information to the first area as first electronic watermark information and buries preliminarily settable information for verifying the propriety of the authentication information and preliminarily settable specification information of the authentication mark generation server to the second area as second electronic watermark information. The authentication part, which is accessible to the first area but not to the second area, extracts the mark image from the authentication mark, and stores it. The browser terminal further includes an authentication mark forgery verification part verifying the first and second electronic watermark information to determine the authentication mark, and displaying the content according to the determination result.
