PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone terminal of a network telephone system which allows a user to view text character data showing the operation state of the telephone terminal on an easy-to-see display screen. SOLUTION: When text display data are sent from a control unit 3, the IP telephone terminal 2-1 acquires display control information regarding the text display data from the control unit 3 prior to display of the text display data, divides the contents of the text display data into, for example, component data showing that a telephone call is being made and component data indicating a telephone call partner based upon the display control information when the contents of the text display data are correct, and displays those component data at mutually different display positions on the LCD 20.
