PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive and an optical disk mounting method by which the optical disk is mounted accurately and in a short period of time. SOLUTION: This optical disk drive discriminates at first kinds of a disk inserted automatically (steps S1 and S2), and displays the discrimination results of the kinds of the disk (step S3). When discrimination of the disk is carried out mistakenly, and when the correct kind of the disk is inputted by a user, automatic adjustment of a servo system is carried out according to the kinds of inputted disk (steps S4 and S5). Therefore, mounting of the disk is carried out properly even if the disk is not discriminated correctly. Moreover, repetition of retry operation of discrimination of kind of disk is avoided.
