Anhydrous wax mixtures useful in self-emulsifying compositions and used in viscosity stabilizers for pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and oil-in-water emulsions contain pentaerythrityl esters and partial glycerides

An anhydrous wax mixture contains the following components at an (a) : (b) weight ratio of 1 : 3-3 : 1 (A) a pentaerythrityl-, dipentaerythrityl- or tripentaerythrityl-ester; and (B) a partial glyceride. An independent claim is also included for a self-emulsifying composition containing the above wax mixture together with (c) an anionic or nonionic emulsifier of HLB above 10.
