<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit improved light efficiency by forming the plane of incidence of a light guide for the incidence of light consisting of a curve, and by forming a structure having a curved plane around a light source. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight unit comprises a light source 100 for emitting light, a housing 200 surrounding the light source, a light guide panel 300 for emitting light to a liquid crystal panel side wherein the light is generated from the light source 100, and a reflector 400 formed under the light guide plate 300.
