PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera of which the dust or dirt sticking to the imaging surface of an imaging element is easy to be confirmed on an image display device. SOLUTION: The digital camera comprises an imaging element for obtaining image data by photographing a subject, an image display device having the pixels of less number than that of the imaging element, and a compressing means which compresses the image data acquired from the imaging element to display a display image on the image display device. The compressing means comprises an image defect enhancing means which enhances an image defect generated in the image data, and displays a display image on the image display device. Since a pixel of a photographed image data shown up as a black point is displayed in the display image as enhanced black point pixel, it is possible to be confirmed on the image display device, and to inspect dust or dirt sticking to the imaging element with sure.
