PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plastic optical element capable of suppressing deformation upon separation when taking out a molding from a die and securing a transfer surface of low distortion and high shape accuracy even in a long-size and thin shape. SOLUTION: The plastic optical element (plastic lens 4) is molded by filling resin into a die cavity and is provided with one or more optical surfaces 5 on which the die cavity surface is transferred and one or more ribs 6, 7 formed on the peripheral part of the optical surface 5. Therein, the lengths of the ribs 6, 7 extended in the approximately optical axis direction of the optical surface 5 are different from each other on the left and right across the optical surface 5.
