PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the feeling of oddness, brought about when images accompanying animation effects are displayed. SOLUTION: A mixture image, in which pixels corresponding to an odd-number column field and pixels corresponding to an even-numbered column field are mixed, is generated for a current image and a next display image (S200). A video chip is set into an odd-even identical mode, while the mixture image of the current display is written to a VRAM (S210). The mixed images are used to generate images in frames for a cross-fade effect and written to the VRAM, and this procedure is repeated (S220 to S260). After the image of the final frame (a mixed image of the next display image) is written to the VRAM, the video chip is set in a normal mode and the original image of the next display image is written in the VRAM (S270). By using the mixture images in the odd-even identical mode, pixels corresponding to the even-numbered column field of the original image are displayed as mixed, which reduces the feeling oddness brought on changing modes.
