PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hinder a receptacle box from colliding with a hall sill when an elevator car mechanism is elevated and lowered even when the upper car and the lower car are arranged adjustable by an inter-floor adjusting mechanism and prevent any falling object from hitting passengers getting on and off the lower car when passengers are going to get on or off on the upper and lower sides of the elevator car mechanism. SOLUTION: A falling object preventing device 6 is mounted in the under-part of the upper car 4 installed on the over-part side of the elevator car mechanism 3, and a spread instruction is issued from a falling object prevention control device 8 to a falling object preventing device 6 when the upper car door and the lower car door are opened in the condition that the elevator car mechanism 3 is stopping, so as to spread the receptacle box 7, and when the upper car door and the lower car door are closed, an accommodate instruction is given to the falling object preventing device 6 so as to accommodate the receptacle box 7.
