Inductive flow meter monitoring method involves measuring proportionate fluid phase of an inductive flow meter based on a level of fluid in a measuring tube. A piezoelectric unit (4) is integrated above measuring electrodes, and determines the echo propagation time perpendicular to the direction of flow of the fluid in the pulse-echo-mode. The unit is excited by frequency that is dependent on the degree of filling of the measuring tube. An independent claim is also included for a device for execution of a method for monitoring magnetically inductive flow meters.
