PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method by which a toner image of high image quality can be formed. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a rotatably disposed photoreceptor 150 on which electrostatic latent images are formed and which bears toner images, developing devices 51, 52, 53, 130 for developing non-multiple toner images by supplying a plurality of different color toners to electrostatic latent images formed on the photoreceptor 150, and an intermediate transfer roller 420 which is disposed opposite to the photoreceptor 150 and onto which toner images are transferred. The non-multiple toner images which the photoreceptor 150 bears are transferred as a compressed image or an extended image onto the intermediate transfer roller 420. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
