PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque control device for an internal combustion engine capable of surely suppressing oscillation back and forth from a vehicle. SOLUTION: In quick acceleration or deceleration operation of the engine (step 101), a differenceΔωbetween angular speedωi of an input end of a drive shaft and angular speedωo of an output end is calculated (step 102). The differenceΔωshows a change rateαof a helix angle of the drive shaft. Subsequently, an allowable limitβis calculated based on gear ratio (step 103). When an absolute value ¾α¾ of the change rate of the helix angle is larger than the allowable limitβ(step 104), torque increasing/decreasing control for temporarily decreasing or increasing torque generated in the engine, for example, ignition timing control or intake air quantity control is executed (step 105).
