PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable multi-color luminous fluorescent display tube with little degradation in brightness of a Ln<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>S:Eu phosphor (Ln is at least one selected from the group consisting of La, Gd, Lu, and Y). SOLUTION: The fluorescent display tube is configured so that: a phosphor layer including a ZnO:Zn phosphor and other oxide phosphors occupies 95% or less of the entire phosphor layer area in the fluorescent display tube where Lu<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>S:Eu is used; the phosphor layer including a ZnO:Zn phosphor and other oxide phosphors occupies 90% or less of the entire phosphor layer area in the fluorescent display tube where La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>S:Eu is used; and the phosphor layer including a ZnO:Zn phosphor and other oxide phosphors occupies 80% or less of the entire phosphor layer area in the fluorescent display tube where Gd<SB>2</SB>O<SB>2</SB>S:Eu is used.
