A load sensor that achieves compactness, high reliability and quality, and that is of low cost, and a method of producing the load sensor. The load sensor has a thin plate-like sensor plate (5) and strain gages (21a-22d) attached to the sensor plate (5). Both ends in one axis direction of the sensor plate (5) are fixation sections fixed to a desired object, and the center point (C) of the sensor plate is a transmission section that allows displacement or load to be transmitted to the sensor plate (5). The strain gages (21a-22d) are arranged at positions point-symmetric about the center point (C), and the strain gages (21a-22d) arranged at the point symmetrical positions are electrically connected to each other in series or parallel to form gage pairs. Further, the gage pairs are electrically connected to each other in series to form a bridge circuit by the strain gages (21a-22d).
