<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable easy grasping of the alignment between obstacles and one's own vehicle in existence in the side region of the vehicle while the vehicle is strolling backward or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A camera part for the left side and a camera part for the right side are each installed on both ends of the roof of the vehicle, and can make exposures of the side regions of the vehicle overlooking the side regions of the vehicle in the slanting lower direction. Then, updated image data are generated which results from coordinate conversion of the data of taken images transmitted from the vehicle-mounted cameras, and indicate a bird's eye view image. The updated image data are compared to the peripheral image data corresponding with the peripheral image being displayed on a display part, and the region which is outside the view of the vehicle-mounted cameras is extracted. The extracted region is synthesized by being matched to the updated image, and made the peripheral image data after updating (S120).
