<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect network topology for every VLAN. <P>SOLUTION: Transmitters 1-3 configure a VLAN. The transmitter 2 generates an inquiry packet for detecting topology of the VLAN in response to a command from a terminal 4 and transmits the inquiry packet to the transmitter 1 under service for every VLAN. An inquiry packet receiving means 1a of the transmitter 1 receives the inquiry packet transmitted for every virtual network. A response packet generating means 1b generates a response packet in response to the inquiry packet. A response packet transmitting means 1c transmits a response packet to the source transmitter 2 which generated and transmitted the inquiry packet.
