PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method for obtaining a high strength and high conductivity copper alloy having excellent conductivity compared with that of the conventional material for a terminal or a connector, and also having reduced anisotropy in characteristics while making its high strength, proof stress and satisfactory bending workability consistent. SOLUTION: An alloy stock having a composition comprising Fe, Ni, P, Si, Sn, Zn and Cu in prescribed constitutional ratios, and in which the ratio between the total weight of Fe and Ni and the total weight of P and Si is controlled to a prescribed value is prepared. The alloy stock is cold-rolled to a thickness of 1.1 to 1.2 times the objective final sheet thickness, is thereafter heated-up to 700 to 850°C, and is subsequently cooled to≤300°C at a temperature dropping rate of≥25°C per minute. The alloy stock is further cold-rolled to an objective final sheet thickness, and is thereafter held at 400 to 500°C for 30 min to 3 hr, thus the high strength and high conductivity copper alloy is produced.
