PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finish-heat treatment method for iron powder and an apparatus therefor with which rough-reduced iron powders is efficiently finished and can be heat-treated. SOLUTION: When the finish-heat treatment is performed to the iron powder (rough reduced iron powders 1), a moving layer 7 for this iron powder is formed and a prescribed treating gas 9 is circulated to the moving layer in the direction crossing the moving direction of this moving layer. Alternatively, further, a plurality of sections are set in the moving direction of the moving layer of the iron powder, and a prescribed treating gas is made to circulate in each section. It is desirable to form the moving layer of a powder material 10 having no reactivity with the iron powder and no self-sintering property in the treating temperature, interposing the moving layer of the iron powder between the inlet side and the outlet side of the treating gas circulating in the moving layer of the iron powder.
