A method for preparing the edges and faces of skis and snowboards has rotating grinding/polishing tools (6) on an adjustable frame through which the ski/board is moved. The grinding/polishing process is controlled by adjustable guide wheels (11) and prepares the edges as well as the ruining faces of the ski/board. The guide wheels are on sprung mountings which are depressed to contact the tools.
